Hanamkonda: Power is not the ulterior motive of the politics, Telugu Desam politburo member Revuri Prakash Reddy has said, commenting on some of his party colleagues’ crossing over to the Congress. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he launched a broadside against A Revanth Reddy, Danasari Anasuya alias Sitakka, Vem Narender Reddy and other leaders, who on Tuesday joined the Congress.

Critical about Revanth’s reasoning – “People in Telangana are longing for a political realignment” – for leaving the party, he sought to know how it can be termed as political realignment. “From Bofors kickbacks to Telecom scam, Congress involved in umpteen number of shameful acts. Despite this, how these leaders have joined hands with that party,” Prakash Reddy said.

“Telangana State happened only because of the ultimate sacrifice made by 1,200-odd people, and not because of AICC president Sonia Gandhi or anybody else,” he said, ridiculing Revanth Reddy’s remarks that Congress carved out new State undermining its interests in Andhra region. He said that Sitakka and Vem Narender Reddy have comfortably forgotten the TDP from where their political life began.

Instead of uniting the Opposition parties to expose the anti-people policies of the ruling TRS, there was no need for changing parties in the name political realignment, Prakash Reddy said, stating that it was unpardonable on part of Revanth Reddy, Sitakka and Vem Narender Reddy to whom TDP brought political importance.

Party State general secretary Eega Mallesham termed that joining Congress is betraying the poor and the downtrodden whose hopes pinned on TDP. “It’s nothing but giving a new lease of life to Congress that is on the brink of extinction,” he said, stating that there is no better forum than TDP to make TRS bite the dust.

Warangal Rural District president Gannoju Srinivasachary, State secretaries Pulluri Ashok, Jatothu Indira, GWMC president Kakke Saraiah, district SC Cell president Hanmakonda Sambaiah, Bhaskula Eeswer, Baba Khader Ali, Jatoth Santhosh Naik, Sd.
