Karimnagar: The law and order situation in Karimnagar was much better than yesteryears, local MLA Gangula Kamalakar said. Speaking at the inauguration of CCTV cameras in Vidyaranyapuri on Wednesday, he said that policing in Karimnagar reached a new level in the last one year.

Apart from infrastructural facilities, law and order is a major issue that investors ponder over before launching their business at any place, Kamalakar said, referring to the entrepreneurs’ interest in setting up their units. The response for the police department’s call to install CCTV cameras in residential areas as part of ‘Nenu Saitham’ is encouraging, Karimnagar Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy said. CCTV footage has come in handy in busting quite a few cases in the city, he said. MPP Vasala Ramesh, Sarpanch Jangapally Mallaiah, ACP T Usha Rani and rural inspector Shashidhar Reddy were among others present.

In another development, the drone cameras identified 57 truckloads of sand illegally stored near Khajipur and Ailonipally villages. The police handed over the stocks to revenue wing. The officials are yet to ascertain the owner of sand dumps.
