Warangal: The activists of Telangana Vidyarthi Sena (TVS) launched 24-hour deeksha on Wednesday demanding the State government establishing of a degree and a junior college in Kazipet.

TVS BC-JAC state chairman Tirunahari Sheshu had launched the deeksha. Addressing the gathering, he demanded that the government must look into the genuine demand of the TVV and the locals residing in Kazipet in the interest of hundreds of poor students.

There were many private, government and aided degree colleges in Warangal and Hanamkonda but Kazipet do not have a single degree and junior college. As a result, hundreds of students, mainly girls, were compelled to go to other places, he said.

Sheshu complained that several government institutions that were functioning in Kazipet were closed before the formation of separate State. Even after three years passed since separate Telangana was formed, no new institution was set up here.

The BJP Warangal urban district president Rao Padma visited the deeksha camp and extended solidarity to by the TVS activists. She noted that that there was an urgent need to establish government degree and junior colleges in Kazipet.

Majority of the people residing in Kazipet are from poor background, hence Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, who holds education portfolio, should take up required measures in establishing the colleges, the BJP leader demanded.

The People’s JAC chairman P Sudhakar addressing the gathering alleged that the government was neglecting the development of Kazipet by undermining the demand to set up a Maternity Hospital, a public library, bus stand and others.

Continuous agitations would be staged until the demand was fulfilled, the TVS leaders warned. BC Hakkula Porata Samithi erstwhile Warangal president B Shyam, district honorary president D Satheesh, TJAC district co-convener A Vidyasagar, GWMC corporators T Raju Yadav, Jakkula Rama and L Mounika Charan, CPM leader Jangaon Sreenu, YSRCP district president S Irmaiah also extended their solidarity to the TVS deeksha.
