Man arrested for rape & murder of 7-year-old
The police arrested a person accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl at Gorikothapalli village in Regonda mandal in the district. Bhupalapalli DSP CM Kiran Kumar produced the accused, Kanakam Shiva (24) before the media on Wednesday. The accused, who confessed to the crime, during the interrogation revealed that he committed the act to take revenge against the girl’s father Earla Raju. H
Bhupalpally: The police arrested a person accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl at Gorikothapalli village in Regonda mandal in the district. Bhupalapalli DSP CM Kiran Kumar produced the accused, Kanakam Shiva (24) before the media on Wednesday. The accused, who confessed to the crime, during the interrogation revealed that he committed the act to take revenge against the girl’s father Earla Raju. He held Raju responsible for his brother K Kumar’s suicide and his father Saraiah’s death few years ago by involving in the love affair of Kumar.
On Sunday night, he abducted Raju’s daughter during an MRPS procession and took her to the village outskirts and raped and killed her. The parents of the girl after lodging a complaint with the police have looked for their daughter and found her murdered on Monday morning.
The DSP informed that police booked a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012 and relevant sections and sent him to judicial custody.Meanwhile, the village residents and the girls’ family members have staged a rasta-roko at the village main road demanding to kill the accused in police encounter. Congress leaders G Venkataramana Reddy and G Jyothi have visited the village and consoled the aggrieved parents.
