Tiryani police took two labourers into custody on Monday for allegedly trying to extort money from a contractor claiming to be CPI (ML) naxalites. According to Sub-Inspector of Police Srinivas, the duo was identified as Shaik Razak Hussain alias Baba (34) of Jankapur (A1) and Bavandlapalli Ravindra Prasad (34) of Kagaznagar (A2).

According to Sub-Inspector of Police Srinivas, the duo was identified as Shaik Razak Hussain alias Baba (34) of Jankapur (A1) and Bavandlapalli Ravindra Prasad (34) of Kagaznagar (A2).

They threatened Venkat Rao, a sub-contractor of L & T Company, doing Mission Bhagiratha works at Mangi gram panchayat of Komaram Bheem district on December 10 and demanded Rs 10 lakh as party fund. They took Rs 6,000 forcibly from Rao after threatening him with death if he made it public. Following a complaint lodged by Rao, the SI and his staff took into custody Hussain on suspicion.

He confessed his crime after interrogation. The police recovered Rs 5,000 from them and the remaining amount, the duo admitted of spending in vices. The accused will be sent for remand. Among those present at the press meet were SI Srinivas and constables Kiran Kumar, Rajkumar, Narender and Shivaji.
