Warangal: The members of Akhil Bhartiya Vishwakarma Parishad (ABVP) district unit demanded the State government withdrawal of forest department Go 31 and amendment of GO 55. A massive protest rally was taken out here on Tuesday by the members of the Parishad, erstwhile Warangal District Sawmill and Timber Merchants Association and Vishwakarmiya Carpenters and Furniture Workers Association in support of their demands.

The protestors, who launched State-wide ‘Uli-Badisha Udyamam’ in support of the demand, boycotted the work on Tuesday. They wanted the government to take measures for the welfare of wood-based industry. The leaders of the associations complained that GO 31/2017 and GO 55/2016 were detrimental to the interests of the carpenters, timber merchants and sawmill owners. The government was misguided by the forest department officials in bringing out those GOs.

The leaders of the associations R Punnata Charyulu, S Rajesham, M Rammurthy, M Sadananda Chary, J Pentaiah Chary, B Kumaraswamy, A Veerachary, N Jagannatham and others demanded the government to suspend principal chief conservator of forests P K Jha for anti-people attitude.

They wanted the government to hold deliberations with the concerned parties and bring out a revised Telangana Forest Act 2018 for the benefit of carpenters, timber merchants and sawmill owners as well as the common public. The leaders appealed Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to look into their demands and come up with remedial measures at the earliest. They submitted a memorandum to Joint-Collector S Dayanand.
