Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharath directed the officials of departments concerned to make elaborate arrangements for celebrating Christmas on a grand note in the district on behalf of the government.

He chaired a meeting with the officials and Church authorities to discuss the arrangements to be made on the occasion, at the Collectorate conference hall here on Wednesday.

The Collector said clothes will be distributed on December 14 and special dinner will be arranged for the people belonging to Christian Community on December 18.

Special officers were appointed to supervise the arrangements in various constituencies across the district. Panchayat Raj department Executive Engineer will supervise the arrangements in Jagtial constituency and Additional Director of Horticulture for Dharmapuri, and District Cooperative Officer have been appointed for Korutla constituecy, informed the Collector.

The special officers by coordinating with local MLAs must form Christmas Celebration Organising Committees, with ten members by identifying suitable Church for celebrating the Christmas on a grand note, Sharath suggested.

Stating that about 1,000 packets of dresses will be sent to each constituency, the Collector warned the officials to be transparent in identifying the real beneficiaries, giving importance to poor, widows, orphans and HIV patients for distributing the clothes.

Decorate the churches beautifully along with preventing any untoward incidents to be taken place on the day of the festival, he added. Joint-Collector B Rajesham, District Revenue Officer T Shyam Prasad, Rural Development officer Dr G Narendar, Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Department Manohar Reddy, Municipal Commissioners, tahsildars and Church authorities were present along with others.
