The GWMC authorities have formed an election cell comprising 11 staff of the corporation and led by an official Krishnaveni on November 11 to make arrangements for the election.

On December 11, Municipal Commissioner Shruti Ojha published the list of draft polling stations with a final list on December 16.

It was proposed to conduct the polling at nine polling stations, where an average number of 1,071 voters will cast their votes. The total number voters in 44th division is said to be 9,641.

Meanwhile, the issuing of election notification has resulted in the postponement of ward meetings proposed to be conducted from Wednesday onwards to select the beneficiaries under SC Action Plan 2017-18 to distribute loans.

The selection of beneficiaries is deferred as election code of conduct came into force. The dates for conducting the ward meetings will be intimated after the election process for 44th ward is completed, informed the GWMC Additional Commissioner Ch Nageshwar.
