Warangal Urban: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is boosting up its network strength to offer free Wi-Fi internet facility to about one crore devotees expected to attend historic bi-annual Sammakka Saralamma Jatara.

There are nearly 23 permanent cell towers from Warangal to Medaram. In addition to that a total of 16 cell towers would be set up covering Tadvai, Pasra and Medaram areas, informed Mahabubabad MP A Seetaram Naik and the BSNL Principal General Manager of Warangal circle K Narender.

For the first time a bandwidth of 10gbps is being used to handle heavy mobile traffic at the Jatara. Speaking to presspersons the MP said IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandu Lal were recently requested to ensure free Wi-Fi facility to the devotees. The State government has issued an order releasing an amount of Rs 20 lakh for the purpose.

Since Medaram is located deep inside the forest area and heavy call traffic caused by heavy gathering of public the mobile users forced to face problems in making calls during the Jatara time. The enhanced network strength would help to offer seamless mobile connectivity to the devotees, the MP noted.

The State government was committed to provide state-of-art facilities to the devotees visiting Medaram from across the country. Ensuring quality telecom services and free internet services are part of such commitment, Seetaram Naik said.

The BSNL official Narender said enhancing network strength was aimed to keep the devotees connected and meet the increased demand for data during the Jatara. Mobile data up to 500mb per day can be used by individuals with the help of hotspots around Medaram.

After mobile phone is connected to the hotspots the user will be asked to provide his details and phone number. A one-time password (OTP) is sent to the phone and on confirming it, the Wi-Fi service is initiated until the limit is reached, he explained. In all 19 mobile towers are available in Medaram village alone, Narender added.

Further, explaining development activities at Medaram, Laknavaram, Mallur and Ramappa, MP Seetaram Naik said there was a proposal to set up Herbal Garden in the agency area.
