Ramagundam: The police have dispelled the arguments of those, who predicted that there would be a breach of peace in the region if the new State of Telangana was carved out, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy said. The DGP was here on Wednesday as part of his visit to all districts.

Speaking at a review meeting, he said that Telangana police department has emerged as a role model in the country by according top priority for safety and security of women and greater emphasis on people-friendly policing.

The Telangana police tackled many a challenge effectively post bifurcation and shut the mouths of separate State detractors, he said. The DGP told the police personnel to upgrade their skills on par with the changing technology. This apart the personnel needs reach out the people so that they could earn respect from them.

Referring to the importance team work, he stressed the need for more coordination among the police personnel. “The police need to adopt technology, work and competitory initiatives besides enhancing their leadership qualities,” the DGP said. He also stressed the importance of CCTV camera surveillance. Later, the DGP released ‘Child Safety is Our Concern’ poster.

IG (North Zone) Y Nagi Reddy, Karimnagar Range DIG Pramod Kumar, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal and Mancherial DCP Venugopal Rao were among others present.
