Hanamkonda: The district Congress committee (DCC) president N Rajender Reddy came down heavily on TRS leaders in Parkal assembly constituency for resorting to attacks on Congress workers. He said TRS leaders were forcing Congress workers to join their party by foisting false against them.

Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, Rajender Reddy alleged that on Tuesday night some TRS workers have dismantled Congress party’s flag pedestal at Varikol village in Parkal mandal.

The pedestal was built some time back on the land, owned by the local Congress leader K Madhukar. However, the local TRS leaders have raised objections over its construction saying they have no permission to build the pedestal in the village. The ruling party workers have also gheraoed Parkal constituency Congress in-charge E Venkatram Reddy, when he on Tuesday visited the village to console the family of the party worker, who passed away recently.

Rajender Reddy complained that the village sarpanch Chandalatha Kumaraswamy and P Ashok Goud of the ruling party were behind the incident. When a complaint was lodged with local police, they remained indifferent and were supporting the ruling party leaders.
The police were acting like ruling party workers and subjecting Congress workers to torture for questioning the misdeeds of the TRS leaders. The police must act impartially in dealing with public and it was not proper to favour the ruling party, he said.

Saying that a complaint in connection with Varikol incident was lodged with Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, the Congress leader urged the police to identify the accused and book cases against them. Rajender Reddy further alleged that a TRS leader Pochampalli Srinivas Reddy, who hails from Varikol, was instigating his party workers to prevent Congress leaders from visiting the village and turned the village into his own estate.

Everyone would appreciate if Srinivas Reddy develops the village but none could accept attacks on opposition party workers. A committee would be formed to deal with the ruling party attacks on Congress workers and would teach a lesson to the TRS if its leaders cross the limits, he cautioned.

The Congress leader informed that the TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy would attend a public meeting on January 28 at Geesukonda during which workers of TRS and TDP on large scale would join Congress party.
