Ramagundam: The Ramagundam Commissionerate Police on Monday organised a bike rally to create awareness among the people on the significance of wearing helmets. Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal, who along with Bollywood actor Abhinav Shukla, flagged off the rally at the Police Headquarters, said that it was an initiative to draw the attention of the people to know the importance of road safety measures including benefits of wearing helmet.

“The onus is on parents to ensure their children wear the helmets without fail,” Duggal said. He said that due to their continuous efforts, the number of accidents has come down by 6 per cent in the Commissionerate area. He thanked the Municipal authorities for supporting their efforts in clearing the roads. He commended the members of Indian Youth Secured Organisation (IYSO) who were actively campaigning road safety measures.

The bike rally that started at the Police Headquarters passed through B Power House and 5 Incline before culminating at Gandhi Chowk. Around 500 police personnel, students and others participated in the bike rally. ACP Apoorva Rao and traffic ACP Venkatramana were among others present. Actor Abhinav Shukla, who is a close friend of Duggal, also participated in the bike rally.
