Warangal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists took to streets here on Wednesday demanding an apology from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for making caustic remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Led by the party Warangal urban district president Rao Padma, a large number of party workers staged a demonstration at Hanamkonda chowrastha. As a mark of protest, the activists burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister though the police tried to thwart the effort.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, the party district president said the BJP strongly condemns K Chandrashekar Rao’s remarks and he must tender an unconditional apology. The Chief Minister’s comments were highly unwarranted and were in bad taste.

Though entire world was praising the Prime Minister’s developmental initiatives, Chandrashekar Rao was acting like a despot resorted to verbal attack against him and it exposes his efforts to cover up his failures to ensure development of the State.

The Chief Minister was under the impression that he could impress public with his rather mordant speeches, but he should know that the people were not interested in such gimmicks and well aware of Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) corrupt rule and were ready to teach him a lesson, Padma stated.

The TRS government which failed to release funds for students’ fee reimbursement scheme and ensure MSP to farmers was spending huge amounts to feed the TRS workers by enhancing wages of market committee chairmen and those in other nominated posts.

The Chief Minister who was promising to transform the lives of the farmers by Farmer Coordination Committees was not able to contribute a single rupee towards premium under Fasal Bhima Yojana introduced by the Centre, the BJP leader alleged. In addition to that the State government was diverting the funds released under Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Yojana to provide subsidised tractors to TRS workers. Rs 100 crore allocated to Telangana for implementation of soil health scheme was not being spent, she added.

BJP State vice president M Dharma Rao, Kisan Morcha vice president M Ramchandra Reddy, leaders S Sanjveeva Rao, P Rajendraprasad, M Suresh, P Ravinder Reddy, G Srinivas and others were present.

The party leaders asserted that they would continue their protests till Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao tenders an apology. A similar protest was staged by the party workers at Jangaon.
