A slip up in hall tickets puts TGCET aspirants on tenterhooks at Rayaparthy
A lapse in mentioning the address of examination centre TGCET-2018 has put a large number of students on tenterhooks at Rayaparthy mandal headquarters in Warangal Rural district, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari’s own district, on Sunday.
Warangal: A lapse in mentioning the address of examination centre TGCET-2018 has put a large number of students on tenterhooks at Rayaparthy mandal headquarters in Warangal Rural district, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari’s own district, on Sunday.
It was said that there were two examination centres with the village name Rayaparthy in Warangal Rural district. There was an examination centre at Telangana Social Welfare Residential School/Junior College at Rayaparthy mandal headquarters (centre code: 5181401), while another one was at Zilla Parishad Secondary School, Rayaparthy (centre code: 5181410) in Parkal mandal of the same district.
However, the education department personnel failed to mention examination centre address clearly in the hall tickets. What they mentioned was Zilla Parishad Secondary School, Rayaparthy, Warangal Rural district, missing the mandal name, Parkal.
With this, many of the parents of the students, whose actual centre was in Parkal mandal, reached Rayaparthy mandal headquarters. But could not find their children’s hall tickets numbers. When enquired, the authorities at the centre told them that their centre was in Parkal, nearly 80 kms away.
Astounded at that, the parents along with children, about 150 in strength, went to Rayaparthy police station and complained to the police. For some time, the students even staged protest holding their examination pads and hall tickets.Nonetheless, the troubled students were saved by the initiative of the local police sub-inspector Sajjanapu Sridhar.
Responding immediately, he spoke to the mandal education officer N Rangaiah and made arrangements for additional OMR sheets allowing students to take the test.
Meanwhile, some others rushed to their original centre in Parkal mandal hiring auto rickshaws and on their own two-wheelers. Some of them were able to reach the centre late by half an hour and officials at the centre allowed them to appear for the test by giving them additional time.
“The education officials are totally irresponsible. They should have given the address completely. Because of their negligence our children lost the chance to appear for the test,” complained the parents of the students, who could not make it to the centre in Parkal due rain on the day.
