Warangal: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary P Annie Rose Christian asked the workers in unorganised sector and downtrodden to become aware of their rights and laws that protect them.

Acquiring knowledge of laws would help to ensure protection of rights, she said while addressing a gathering at Dharmasagar gram panchayat where the DLSA conducted legal awareness camp.

She explained the provisions of National Legal Services Authority-NALSA (Legal Services to the Workers in the Unorganized Sector) Scheme 2015 and NALSA (Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Abuse) Scheme, 2015 to the villagers.

Every individual would be treated equal before the law. The DLSA would hire a lawyer to legal services to effected persons at free of cost whenever their rights were violated. Men and women, aged and juveniles should make use of such services, Christian said.

Similarly, Lok Adalaths would help a great lot in resolving pending cases in an amicable way, she added. The DLSA secretary appealed the workers engaged in construction industry to get membership in their welfare board and obtain labour card while explaining the benefits they could get with that. Similarly, every driver should possess a valid license so that their families could get compensation in the case of their accidental death.
