Peddapalli Collector Devasena gets Telangana Excellence Award
District Collector Devasena on Monday received the ‘Telangana Excellence Award 2017’, which was announced recently by the State government for the officials for best administration.
Peddapalli: District Collector Devasena on Monday received the ‘Telangana Excellence Award 2017’, which was announced recently by the State government for the officials for best administration.
While working as the Collector of Jangaon district, she was moved by the plight of a little girl who was raped. Being a mother of a girl child, she decided that girl children need to be strong and launched a self-
defence programme for all girl students.
The self-defence programme covers over 16,000 girl students from seventh class to inter second year in all government schools and junior colleges in the district. They have been trained in self-defence techniques and martial arts.
Devasena also initiated the mass presentation of martial display called ‘Sanghatitha Sabala’ on a single platform where 13,600 girl students participated and created a world record.
For her effort, Peddapalli Collector Devasena was chosen for the Excellence Award under individual innovation category.
Collector Devasena received the award from State Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and IT and Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao.
