Kadiyam seeks Uttam’s apology for remarks against RBS

​Jangaon: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari came down heavily on Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and its former chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah for ridiculing Rythu Bandhu Scheme (RBS).

The Deputy Chief Minister demanded an apology from the Congress leaders for their caustic remarks against the RBS. The Congress leaders who never made any effort to help the farming community were making unwarranted comments against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government which introduced the scheme to support farmers in the State, he alleged.

Srihari chaired a review meeting on RBS implementation and addressed a gathering of farmers and members of Farmer Coordination Committees (FCCs) in Jangaon on Tuesday. He appealed the FCC members, local leaders and officials to work in coordination for the success of the scheme.

Updating land records was a herculean task and that was why no other government in the past came forward to take up the work, he said, adding that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, with an intention to avoid trouble to farmers, launched the land records purification programme).

The cleansing of land records became a success as VROs and MROs made committed efforts. However, some of the VROs and MROs committed mistakes damaging the reputation of all. Strict action would be taken against erring revenue officials, Srihari cautioned.

Due to some lapses and technical issues, passbooks preparation was not fully completed. Efforts should be made to rectify such lapses and by June 22, 100 per cent distribution of Pattadar passbooks and crop investment support cheques should be achieved, he suggested.

In order to address issues in RBS implementation, gram sabhas should be conducted in coordination with FCCs, sarpanches, MPTCS and officials. A grievance register was provided to record the complaints related to RBS and they should be forwarded to concerned village sarpanches and MPTCs, the Minister said.

The message of regularising sada bainamas under land records purification scheme should be informed in the villages. The District Collectors were allowed to regularise lands under prohibition of transfer (PoT) cases, hence all such lands should be regularised without delay, he said.

Srihari, while congratulating Jangaon District Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy for ensuring distribution of 95 per cent of passbooks and cheques under RBS, said so far 1.30 lakh passbooks were distributed and the remaining 69,000 passbooks should be distributed by June 12.
