Warangal: The strike by MEPMA resource persons, affiliated to Telangana Resource Persons Welfare Association, has reached 16th day on Tuesday. They refused to withdraw the strike even as the GWMC Mayor N Narender and Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker have assured that their issues were taken to the notice of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao during a meeting in Hyderabad on Monday.

The striking resource persons (RPs) of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), a wing of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, wanted a statement by the Minister clearly, stating the measures to be taken to address their issues.

The association members staged a massive demonstration in Warangal on Tuesday in support of their demands. They were demanding a minimum wage of Rs 10,000, ESI, PF, insurance and identity cards for long.

“In a newspaper statement, the Mayor and the MLA said they held meeting with the Minister and he reportedly responded positively to our demands. But we want an official statement by the Minister and then, we will withdraw out strike,” said the association leaders N Padmavathi, P Shobarani, Nukala Rani, A Rajitha and others.

They further said the resources persons render valuable services by conducting surveys to get feedback on the implementation of various welfare programmes by the State government. But the services were not rewarded properly, they complained.
