Congress rebel J Raghava Reddy has been elected as the chairman of District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB). He was elected unanimously here on Tuesday ending the suspense over the election of chairman to the post after three months of legal proceedings and political games played by the contestants.
The election was just a formality only to announce the election of Raghava Reddy to the post in view of a direction by High Court given a few weeks ago. The election was stalled four months ago following a court case filed by District Congress Committee president D Madhava Reddy on February 19. After many hearings, the court on April 17 ordered the State government to re-start the election process which was stalled at the stage of withdrawal of nominations on February 19.
On Tuesday the district cooperative officer B Sanjeeva Reddy commenced the process of announcing nominations filed and withdrawals. Later Raghava Reddy and R Pullaiah were declared as elected unanimously to the posts of chairman and vice chairman respectively.
Cong. reigns Prakasam DCCB posts Meanwhile, elections to the Executive Council of the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) in Prakasam district on Tuesday became a one sided affair with the Congress party bagging majority of seats. Congress leaders were jubilant when they won 13 DCCB director posts out of the 21. While the Telugu Desam Party bagged 3 posts, YSR Congress Party bagged only one post and nominations were not filed for two posts.
