aprs2 Warangal: The leaders and cadre of Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham have staged a demonstration in front of Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) head quarters here seeking seven hours power supply to irrigation needs. The sangham leaders Samineni Rama Rao, Shetty Venkanna, M Kanaka Reddy, G Rajanna, Sudi Krishna Reddy, Kusam Rajamouli K Sampath, B Yakub Reddy and others took part in the agitation held on Monday. Speaking to the press persons on the occasion, the leaders demanded the NPDCL officials to supply uninterrupted power for seven hours and to address low voltage problem in the district. The farmers who were affected by extreme weather conditions in khariff season were now suffering due to irregular power supply as 70 percent of farmers in the district depend on bore-wells for irrigating the crops. "At least this month the government should supply continuous power during day hours" demanded the leaders adding the crop has reached crucial stage. If the government failed to act it would face the fate of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, they warned. Since the power was supplied night hours five farmers died in the district due to electrocution when they visited the fields to feed the crops, said Krishna Reddy.
