Telangana outfits and political parties have celebrated the ‘Telangana Liberation Day’ across the district. Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samhithi, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Telugu Desam Party, Telangana JAC and other organizations have organised separate programmes marking the day.
Warangal: Telangana outfits and political parties have celebrated the ‘Telangana Liberation Day’ across the district. Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samhithi, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Telugu Desam Party, Telangana JAC and other organizations have organised separate programmes marking the day.
It might be noted that the ‘Liberation Day’ celebrations commemorate the ‘Police Action’ by the Indian Union against the Hyderabad state ruled by Nizam rulers on September 17 1948. The police action ended tyrannical rule of Nizams against whom the people in the region took up an armed struggle at that time.
National flag was hoisted at Congress Bhavan where Minister for Backward Communities Welfare Baswaraju Saraiah, Warangal MP S Rajaiah, the party district president D Madhava Reddy, former MLA Dugyala Srinivasa Rao and others attended. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Liberation Day was very important one for the people in the region as they got freedom on the day after a serious struggle against Nizams. Everyone should remember and offer tributes to those died fighting against Nizams, he said.
Referring to the creation of Telangana state, he hoped that the bill if moved in the Parliament would be approved by the House without any opposition. All the partners in the UPA were supporting the decision taken by Congress Working Committee and hence the bill would be passed easily, he added.
At TRS office, the party leaders, Kadiam Srihari, T Ravinder Rao, Md Nayeemuddin, Gudimalla Ravi Kumar and others attended and hoisted the National Flag and Telangana Flag and paid tributes to Telangana martyrs.The TRS MLA D Vinay Bhasker who hoisted the flag at Kothur Jenda area.Even though Karnataka and Maharashtra states were officially celebrating the event, in Andhra Pradesh the government failed to declare it an official event, he said. Marking the day, TNGOs and TJAC activists have taken out a bike rally and paid homage at Telangana martyrs memorial.
