Referring to the Kakatiya festival, he asked the officials to prepare an effective plan of action in organising the event as it would be conducted for the first time after the formation Telangana state. The festival would take place in January 2015. Celebrations would be held at Warangal Fort, Thousand Pillar Temple, Ramappa Temple and Kotagullu for three days. For the successful conduct of the event, eight committees would be formed to look after festival arrangements.
He said that the committee members would meet once in every three days and review the progress of works. “Celebrations should match the quality and content of Konark and Khajuraho festival so as to highlight the richness of Kakatiya heritage,” he added. Marking the inauguration of Kakatiya festival, a massive procession with artistes would be taken out from Pochamma Maidan to Warangal Fort. The government offices, shopping malls and complexes have to be decorated with colourful lighting, Collector Kishan suggested.
Warangal Municipal Commissioner and Mulug RDO were entrusted with the task of looking after the maintenance of sanitation, drinking water supply and electricity. The officials of rural water supply should also take care of sanitation. The officials could seek cooperation of elected members in making arrangements and work in coordination with them, Kishan said. Municipal Commissioner Suvarna Panda Das, Joint Collector Pausumi Basu, Additional Joint Collector K Krishna Reddy, DRO R Surendra Karan and others were present.
