Bold and Beautiful

“The Twilight Zone” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 aimed to capture that fleeting magical moment before day ends and night begins. With bold silhouettes, intricate embroideries, each ensemble carried a sense of freedom and joy making a definite style statement.

Exploring transparency creatively with sheer accents, the young designer Jayanti Reddy’s style mantra lay in the underlying belief that it is more about strength than skin. The palette was inspired by the ‘golden hour’ that has a variety of shades in grey, which are often seen residing between night and day. To give the line an unconventional appeal, the outfits innovatively captured the sudden darkness that envelopes night when stepping outside the twilight zone.

The designer experimented with the sleeves and blouses. Scalloped edges formed a prominent theme, while the checks’ embellishment created a perfect look. While the sheer gave the outfits a fluid feel, the play of tassels added to the femininity along with bold laces and borders.

By blending her obsession with details and subverting the traditional lines she created outfits that were a mix of sharp tailoring and conventional fits. When it came to showcasing the contradictions of the twilight hour in the collection, Jayanti ensured that the silhouettes captured the beauty of reverie and reality in their intersections.

For a show-stopping entry, the gorgeous Bollywood actor, Aditi Rao Hydari turned out in a heavily embellished rose gold, lehenga and exquisitely, embroidered, backless, jacket that made all heads turn.
