Skin care is an essential part of regime for every individual. However, most women are used to products that have chemicals, which in-fact has adverse effect on their skin and causes many skin problems.

Using natural extracts of vegetables and fruits can, on the other hand, help you care for your skin in a holistic way. Minu from Jharkhand set her stall of organically produced body care products at the ‘Organic Festival’ in Hyderabad.

Having completed her ‘Bachelors of Arts’ Minu was very determined to learn something unique and creative so, she happened to get trained in making the organic skin care products.

“In the year 2012 I started making skin care products by myself. Since the time I began doing this, I feel empowered and happy to do something on my own.”

With a 20-memberladies’ group Minu tries to work effectively and makes a living out of her products. “About 10 women work in making the products regularly and the others come along whenever there is a requirement.”

Talking about the training that was given to her she stresses, “We got trained by NABARD, it was about three months training that was give to me. I have worked for almost six years under them and then I started my business.”

Using natural products, she makes soaps, body-wash, scrubs, face wash, etc, “We make all these products with the extracts of vegetables and fruits; we also happen to use oils like mava, coconut and olive oil.”

With an expanded range of products, Minu, now, plans to start a cosmetic range. “Different products take naturally different time in making. Soaps will takes around 15 days and oils take around 20 days.

Likewise, the other products too, take a lot of work to make as the raw material has to be extracted, dried and then made into paste or oil form. The price range starts from 30 rupees up to Rs 240 rupees, to make it affordable for people to use these products.”

Speaking about her family’s support, she shares, “My husband has been very supportive about my work. He always encouraged me and took care of my children whenever I was stuck with my work.”

About the exhibition, she says, “We supply our products all over India. I am here exhibiting my products at Hyderabad for the very first time and the response from the people at the ‘Organic Festival’ has been amazing.”
