AuAndhra University (AU) entered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Messrs Apnabox and Google Apps for Education to help students, faculty and administrators share and manage content here at a brief meeting on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, AU Vice-Chancellor Prof G S N Raju announced that they have adopted Apnabox cloud based share and collaboration system to help their students, faculty to share and manage content online and from mobile devices as well. He said that university is also associated with CloudReign based technologies of Chennai to implement Google Apps for education on the campus as well as affiliated colleges. 'We always look forward for technology tools that will enhance our productivity, innovation and academic success. Platforms like Apnabox and Google Apps for education would help meet these goals', he added. The faculty, staff and students can access and share content from any device whether at Andhra University or at home or abroad, Apnabox helps them stay connected. The MOUs were exchanged between Vice Chancellor Prof G S N Raju and Director of Apnabox Vijay Basani and between Prof Raju and N Lakshmi Narayana of Google Apps in the presence of Rector Prof S Ganapathy and Registrar Prof K Rama Mohana Rao. Registrar Prof Rama Mohana Rao said that higher education is going through massive changes and with the shift in financial models and globalisation, past technology no longer work. He said Cloud technologies deliver lightweight applications that can be easily adopted to enable the next generation of education. Director of Apnabox Vijay Basani said that universities are moving away from legacy systems opting software that is built Online/mobile world to meet the expectations of its students on the basis of a virtual class room. Lakshmi Narayana of Google Apps said they are providing services like mail forwarding, data storage and email service to many varsities to help improve Online services.
