Youth today underestimates India but little do we know about the greatness of our ancestors. Indians have contributed to the whole world. Here is a brief information about great men of our country winnerOur government is inefficient, our phones do not work, our televisions are waste, and corruption is high" a student of management college commented in an elocution competition held in their university convocation hall. I was shocked listening to his speech and I went to meet him after the function. I asked him, "Don't you have any other subject to talk? Being an Indian you are criticising our country, who gave you the permission to talk nonsense about India?" He said that he doesn't need any permission and he said what he spoke are facts and his speech was liked by all. I pitied him and told him that he doesn't know what our country is and asked him to meet me later to know more about it. So is the attitude of majority of students. Sometimes, I feel their family upbringing and movies these days are reason to this. They are unaware of our ancestors' achievements. It has become a fashion to criticise Indian culture, traditions and customs. Every parent, teacher and elders of the society shout guide youth to become good Indians.

"In the years of our history people from all over the world have come and invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. From Alexander onwards. The Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us, took over what was ours. Yet we have not done this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone. We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and tried to enforce our way of life on them.A Why?A Because we respect the freedom of others'.

In Singapore when a person spits on the road he has to pay fine. Our Indians there follow the rules, but when they come to India they spit on the roads, walls, even in the trains. This attitude must be changed forthwith. In America every dog owner has to clean up the place after his pet has done the job. The Indian citizen obeys the orders over there, but when comes back to India, attitude changes. In Dubai you wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramzan festival irrespective of the religion. Everybody respects the system. We expect the Government to clean up but we are not going to stop collecting garbage all in a cover and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways, bus stations to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. Bribery, tax evasion, unlicensed business, unethical practices, etc. have become common practices in India. The system can be changed by you and me. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse My dear young Indians, I am repeating JF Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians "Ask what we can do for India, not what India can do for us."
