PG Board of Studies meeting in Acharya Nagarjuna University mooted Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) from the next academic year. Vice- Chancellor K Viyyanna Rao on Friday addressed the chairpersons and members of the Board of Studies on the agenda. "The students should be provided a choice in selecting core and non-core courses in their study," the VC said.
Under this model, every student will get an opportunity to select two papers from other courses. For instance, a student of MA (English) will have a chance to select a paper like Principals of Management offered by MBA Department or a paper like Medicinal Plants offered by Botany Department as non-core subjects, which otherwise carry equal number of credits.
The BoS meeting also discussed changes in the curriculum, exam pattern, equivalency and other related matters to be implemented from the academic year 2013-14, finalisation of credits to papers of the respective PG courses being offered by various departments/centres and specification of the titles and syllabi of non-core papers to be offered in the respective PG courses as a part of regulations of Choice-Based Credit System of Evaluation.
