Kalyan Ram Vadrevu, a tutor who was once a software consultant, talks about what made him switch his career Purnima Sriram soft2My qualification I pursued my Mechanical Engineering from JNTU and later joined ECIL as software consultant. Why tutor? I was not satisfied with my work as software consultant. I wanted to do something different in life. I did not want to sit at one place and work under someone. I realised that I can become a tutor when one of my colleagues approached me to teach mathematics to his daughter who was then studying intermediate. My friend and my pupil used to appreciate my teaching skills which motivated me to become a tutor.
    Initial journey
I didn't invest much to start Kalyan Tutorials (now named Kalyan Educational Institution). I rented a room and bought a few chairs; I also had a few students to begin with. Eventually with the increase in students, I shifted the tutorials into a better place with four rooms, white boards and also an office room. Teaching methodology
I am in this profession for the past eight years and it has been wonderful till now. I wanted my students to study in a pressure free environment as they come to tuition after attending classes in corporate colleges. I make learning fun so that they enjoy the process of learning. They address me as "Anna" which make me relate to them and builds a bond between us.
    Why my job is best
Teaching is a noble profession. It is a profession where you impart knowledge and also gain knowledge. I motivate students and students also motivate me with their love and respect. I earn equal to that of a software engineer. Unlike a corporate job, teaching is a stress free and pressure free job. SetbacksA It is a little tough to handle adolescence but if we understand the tactics, it is easy.
