govtThe Government Junior College Lecturers have protested outside the office of the Collegiate Education in Hyderabad against the government's efforts to appoint lecturers through APPSC selections and thereby denying the JLs their due. They staged dharna for over two hours on Monday demanding that all the eligible JLs be promoted as Degree College Lecturers. "We have been awaiting promotions for the last two years but now all of a sudden, government tries to make appointments through Service Commission. This is not acceptable to us," Dr P Madhusudhan Reddy, General Secretary, Government Junior College Lecturers Association made it clear at the dharna. Later in a memorandum, the Association said that "We came to know that government is planning to lift the ban of transfers from the fourth week of April as the election to the local bodies are to be held from the third week of May. In this backdrop, it is desirable to conduct DPC to the post of lecturer immediately to protect the interests of JLs," he urged.
