Classes from June 3

The first phase admission process to first year Intermediate courses will begin from May 20. The Board of Intermediate Education has directed all the principals of government, private aided, private unaided, cooperative, residential, social welfare and tribal welfare junior colleges as well as composite degree colleges, which are offering two-year course in general and vocational streams to start it in the right earnest.

The classes for first and second year Intermediate course will commence from June 3, according to Ramshankar Naik, Secretary of Board of Intermediate Education. "The Principals can make provisional admissions on the basis of Internet marks memos. They can be confirmed after the production of original SSC pass certificate and Transfer Certificate issued by the school authorities" he said.

He also made it clear that in view of the introduction of grading system in SSC, admissions will be made based on GPA (Grade point average) and subject-wise grade point (GP) obtained in the qualifying examination as per the guidelines. 'They should not conduct any test for admission. Stringent action will be taken against the junior colleges making admissions on any other basis', he warned.

Admissions will be only up to the sanctioned sections and up to the ceiling strength of 88 in each section. The Board has asked the private managements to display prominently at the entrance of the building the number of sections sanctioned by the Board and the number of seats filled up in each section and the number of seats vacant in each section. This information should be updated on a daily basis, it said.
