German varsity owes it to Indus-HMTV Global award Naresh Nunna Participation of Institute of Continuing Education (ifw) for Advanced Studies at Hof University, Germany, in an education summit convened in February 2013 in Hyderabad has helped it reap rich dividends, the institute said. "The number of applications from India rose significantly after personal interaction with Indian students during the Indus Foundation Education Summit in Hyderabad in February," Nicole Huttner, Managing Director, ifw Management studies, told The Hans India, in a telephonic conversation.

Indus Foundation conducted the fifth edition of Indo- American Education Summit and Expo 2013 in February, 2013, in which HMTV- The Hans India co-sponsored the Indus- HMTV awards. IFW of Hof University was one of the six global universities received 'Global Award for Educational Excellence 2013.' "Our innovative study program 'German Indian Management Studies (GIMS)' fetched us the award and the award made the students evince keen interest about our programme," she said. According to her, Ambassador of India to Berlin, Sujatha Singh recently came down to Hof University to congratulate on getting the award and also to welcome the second batch of Indian students in Hof, Bavaria, Germany. "The ties between Hof and India are very strong and the GIMS program plays a crucial role in fostering these bonds," said Singh during the official welcoming ceremony. Indian envoy outlined the distinction of this cross-cultural MBA program with its progressive approach in Indo-German collaboration. She especially encouraged young Indians to take up this study opportunity. "GIMS program is very much interwoven with German industry as well as Indian industry. Companies supporting GIMS are WILO SE, Netzsch, Lamilux, REHAU, AKG, BROSE, HofTex, MAN etc," Nicole said. She further said the GIMS for 2013-15 is open. "The application lies exclusively with PSG Institute Coimbatore, one of the education- partners of Hof University," she said. Referring to activities in India, she said the first Science Office of the Bavarian-Indian Centre for Business and University Cooperation (BayIND) at Hof University opened in Bengaluru in April. Besides PSG Institute, Hof University currently holds ties with seven other reputed institutes including IIT Madras, the Manipal University, National Law School- Bangalore, IIIT- Bangalore, IIT Karaghpur and Nirma University- Ahmedabad. "Another international Master program at Hof University is 'Software Engineering for Industrial Applications', which also doing well with overwhelming response from Indian students," she said.
