Results of Intermediate second year will be released at 4 pm on Friday at the office of Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad. Though the results normally generate a kind of interest, the focus this year in science subjects would be on the top twenty percentile students, who get a chance to appear for the JEE-Advanced for entry into IITs if they get a decent AIR (All India Rank).

The Board of Intermediate Education has to prepare the list of top 20 percentile candidates to CBSE which would finally prepare the list of candidates eligible for JEE-Advanced. According to an estimate, AP students shall get a minimum of 87.2% of marks to be in the elite group. Of course, it all depends on the overall percentage, sources said.

It would also been closely watched on how plus two students of other states would fare in their respective Board exams. An earlier analysis showed that students from other states can get less marks to be in the top 20 percentile. Bengali students, said to be brilliant in science subjects, can get just 58% marks, as per a study done by Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).

The vast differences in the percentages are due to multiple reasons, including difference in valuation system adopted by different boards, teaching methods, syllabi etc. A The ISI could not evolve a mechanism to bring parity among various Boards. This has generated a lot of heat across the country and is bound to create trouble for CBSE after the declaration of results.
