The present job market faces tough competition and it may not fetch you a good job with just a graduation degree, unless it is an honors degree in a major subject. With just a graduation degree, you have prospects of entering into a career in the private sector as a customer care executive, sales associates/executives, data entry operators/computer animation (Multimedia knowledge is required), social work, travel and tourism or a BPO/KPO job. The tourism industry is growing at a rapid rate and offers various jobs to young arts graduates. In the govt. sector, you can avail opportunities for railway/postal jobs, in insurance companies or you can enter the banking field by participating in different examination for govt. services like Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India etc.

I would advise you to go ahead and pursue Master’s degree in any one subject that you are most interested in. Masters in psychology or a PG diploma gives you better chances of securing a job in public relations, retail management, sales, market research, advertising, education, etc, including universities and colleges, primary and secondary schools, government agencies, private industry, hospitals, clinics, and private practices. They are also employed in social welfare organisations, research establishments, rehabilitation centers, prisons, child/ youth guidance centre’s, advertising industry and in a variety of other set-ups. Those who specialise in social psychology can work as counsellors in hospitals or with NGOs.

With Majors in Economics, you can enter the education, business, NGO and government organisations. Organisations dealing with data collection and interpretations, management consultancy firms and planning commissions recruit economists at lucrative pay scales. Take up the Indian Economic Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to get a secured job in the government sector. Study Majors in English and enter the media industry, advertising, public relations, teaching, etc. A course in a foreign language or training in human resources management, or a diploma in event management, computer courses, fashion designing or hotel management can enhance your employability.
