State government on Thursday issued guidelines to earmark 15 percent of supernumerary seats in all diploma courses in private polytechnic colleges. Out of this 15% seats, five percent each should be allotted to Foreign Nationals, Persons of India Origin and Children of Indian workers in Gulf countries (FN/PIO/CWG).
Any vacant seats out of 1/3rd reserved for each category should be open for admission to other categories and under no circumstances a seat remains unfilled should be allowed to anyone other than the said categories, the GO said. The institution should admit students under this NRI quota within the permitted intake only, according to guidelines. All admissions to the institutions under this scheme should be done on merit basis among applicants. The institutions should adhere to the admission schedule announced by the Government
The institutions have to submit the complete list of students admitted latest by July 31 of July of the academic year indicating the details of students such as background and track record of the students; Passport particulars; Residential Addresses; County of Origin;
Visa documents and other documents
Every institution seeking to give admission to NRI students should verify the bonafide of the students, their background and track records ensuring the interests of the country and its security concerns before giving admission A committee under the chairmanship of Commissioner of Technical Education will be constituted to look into the lists of admitted candidates and ratify them.
