  • Anathapuram, Kurnool still problematic
  • CET committee to meet on August 30

There is a slight improvement in engineering counselling on Wednesday in several Seemandhra districts as the polytechnic college lecturers who were deputed for the work reported to duty. Out of 38 helpline centres in the region, as many as 27 have functioned with 5,822 students got their certificates verified. For the first time that above 20 centres functioned in Seemandhra region since the start of counselling on August 19.

But Anathapuram and Kurnool continued to be problematic as not even a single centre has worked due to protest against the decision to divide the state. “The employees in those districts are ready to resume duties but they fear the agitators may attack them if they reach centres. I spoke them and assured them that if necessary, full police security will be provided to them. I hope they will attend to work from Thursday” Ajay Jain, Commissioner of Technical Education told The Hans India.

The verification in the nine coastal districts and 10 Telangana districts was smooth and in Telangana, where all the 22 help line centres have been functioning without any hitch from day one, a total of 5,630 rankers turned up for verification. All together, 11,452 rankers have got their certificates verified on Wednesday.

With this, more than 1.02 lakh rankers have so far turned up for verification out of a total of 2.17 lakh. The CET committee will be meeting in Hyderabad on August 30 and finalise the schedule for web options, Ajay Jain said. Meanwhile, the stalemate over Category B admissions is still continuing as the government has reportedly been studying the legal complications if any if fresh GO is issued without consulting the private colleges.
