The process of submitting options for admission into engineering colleges started on Tuesday with more than 15,000 rankers uploading their choices on the first day. Though there is scope for 40,000 rankers, some glitches in opening the website marred the process for a while. Several parents have complained that they were finding it difficult to open the site and made repeated attempts to log in but to no avail. But senior officials have dismissed reports of web jam, saying that everything was smooth as per the information they received.

More than half of the rankers who have given their choices were from in and around Hyderabad, according to preliminary observation. Meanwhile, the certificate verification has concluded on Tuesday with 540 rankers- 313 from Seemandhra and 227 from Telangana regions turned up. With this, a total of 1,30,278 rankers have got their certificates verified at the end of the process, according to Dr Raghunath, Chief Camp Officer.

In Vijayawada, as many as 140 candidates have exercised their option entry. So far, 5,323 candidates underwent verification process at SRR and CVR Government College and on the first day of the web counselling 35 candidates have chosen their option. In Andhra Loyola College as many as 3579 candidates got through the verification process and 63 candidates have used their option entry. On the other hand, around 42 candidates have accessed to the options at Government Polytechnic College. The web option process would go on till September 12. The rankers can make any changes in their options on September 13,14 and 15. The seat allotment will be done on September 17.

Meanwhile, the issue of Category B admissions is likely to take a few more days. The file sent by the Higher Education Department to the Chief Minister may not be disposed immediately as Kiran kumar Reddy is busy with the political developments, sources said. If he gives nod for approaching the High Court on its August 17th verdict, then the officials may have to go to Court again. But top sources are of the opinion that the admissions under management quota (Category B) are likely to be done in the same manner as of last year since the schedule is getting over-delayed.
