- Tension among students
- Fate of some colleges to be decided today
The allotment of seats to engineering rankers under convener quota will be declared on Monday, drawing to a close a month-long crucial exercise. According to Dr Raghunath, Chief Camp officer of counselling, “the allotments will be processed and released on September 17 after 06.00 pm and details of the seat allotted to each candidate will be sent through SMS as per the mobile numbers furnished by them at the time of certificate verification”.
He asked the candidates to download the allotment order from “candidates login” by entering their registration number, hall ticket Number, Password and date of birth and also the Bank challan form for the payment of fee if any. “The fee indicated in the allotment order has to be paid in any one of the branches of Indian Bank or Andhra Bank across the state and obtain a receipt from the bank. In respect of Fee Reimbursement cases no challan will be downloaded and should report to the college on or before September 23” he explained.
Anxiety has gripped hundreds of students as they have been waiting for the day since it will decide the college and branch they are going to study for the next four years. “Not just that, it will also decide our future. The college and branch would be our future for the next 40 years, to say precisely” Venugopala Reddy who got above 13,000 rank said. Some of the students have been making plans for shifting of colleges from now itself, if they don’t get the one they have opted for. “What’s use in joining a college and branch which I don’t want to study.
I opted for Gokaraju as my top option and CVSR as the second one. If I don’t get in any one of them, I will try for another one, even if it is in management quota” TR Vivekananda Murthy, another ranker said. Majority of the rankers see the campus record first and availability of faculty and material to do a worthy project which can help in our job pursuits” Vyshnavi Meduri, a ranker from Vizag said. Colleges in and around Hyderabad continued to attract students this year and it remains to be seen how many of them would get seats in the convener quota.
This would also decide the fate of many colleges situated in smaller towns and municipalities, which are expected to get zero admissions. According to one estimate nearly 60 to 80 colleges may have to close their shop as they may not be preferred by rankers.
The counseling for Bi PC stream has started on Monday and as many as 2076 candidates have turned up for certificate verification, The verification of certificates will go on up to September 21 at all the helpline centres, in addition, CSD St. Theresa Autonomous College for Women, Eluru in West Godavari district were also added. Candidates can also register their options simultaneously till September 21. With regard to ICET admissions, a total of 57 019 candidates have attended for certificate verification.
