MCA is competing with engineering study with regard to dismal show of admissions! The seat allotment after second phase of counselling was done on Monday which has once again revealed that there are few takers for the MCA colleges in the state. As many as 109 colleges have registered a disastrous performance with not even a single preferring them. Another 50 colleges were selected by less than 10 students and the fate of these colleges is also under cloud. Only 46 out of the 337 MCA colleges in the state could make up 100 percent admissions.
It might be recalled that as many as 57,542 rankers were allotted after first phase of counselling. The number of seats which remained vacant after final counselling was 28,819 out of which 17,139 in MBA stream and the remaining 11,680 in MCA stream.
While this is the situation in MCA, the scenario in MBA is better than MCA. A total of 23 MBA colleges have recorded zero admissions while 32 institutions could attract just below ten students.369 out of 839 MBA colleges could fill up all the seats. The performance of around 300 MBA colleges is not good, according to officials of the Higher Education Council. Rampant permission by the AICTE, late admissions, no guarantee of classes, poor placement record and lack of skilled faculty were cited some of the reasons for the poor admissions by both MBA and MCA colleges.
Candidates who were allotted seats shall report to colleges before October 5, according to Dr Raghunath, chief camp officer of CET Admissions.
