The Ministry of Finance has given clearance for recruitment of teachers, professors and some other non-academic staff in some universities. In all 1,276 teacher posts will be recruited through DSC (District Selection Committee) exam in all municipal schools across the state.

Clearance was also given for filling up of 855 posts in Nagarjuna, Andhra, SVU, Vikrama Simhapuri and BR Ambedkar University at Srikakulam.

Of the 1,296 teacher posts, 854 were SGT; 198 Language Pandit; 126 School Assistant; 34 PETs and 64 School Assistants (Languages) posts.

Andhra University got approval for filling up of 447 posts (119 professor+128 associate professor + 200 assistant professor). Srikakulam University got approval for only 15 posts. Vikrama Simhapuri Varsity of Nellore was sanctioned 23 posts.

Though financial clearance is given, questions have been raised over whether the government can fill up the 1,276 municipal teacher posts at all.

Government has already put on hold release of DSC notification for recruitment of 20,158 teacher posts at the eleventh hour keeping in mind the ongoing agitations in Seemandhra region.

The APPSC has also deferred announcements and holding of competitive exams for various posts as the state is on the brink of a vertical split.

Any attempt to recruit people at this juncture may be fraught with the court cases, the Commission felt. DEOs from 13 districts of Seemandhra have recently written to the School Education Department urging it not to go ahead with the DSC and TET exams stating that the situation is not conducive.

So, it is highly unlikely that a notification for recruitment of 1276 posts may be released.
