Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the respective authority to take up admissions of 174 private engineering colleges.

The apex court in its order said “The authority concerned will call for applications and admission immediately and admit those students who have completed the examination conducted by the State for admission in technical colleges on or before November 14.

While the order did not mention who should call for the applications, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher (APSCHE) are planning to issue a notification in this regard. According to TSCHE chairman, Prof. T Papi Reddy, there are about 3,000-4,000 students who did not get into any college. A meeting will be held tomorrow for finalising the dates to issue a notification,” TSCHE chairman informed.

His counterpart Prof. L Venugopal Reddy, said, “Conveners of both the states would meet on Saturday to finalise the counselling schedule. A notification would be issued on the same day,” Reddy said.

The order comes as a relief for the private colleges who were confused about the admission process. “We are content with the order issued by the apex court. Now the admissions process should start without further delay,” said a member of Telangana Private Engineering and Professional College Managements Association.
