Hyderabad: The second edition of OAKiq 2017 Grand Finale, India’s biggest multi-city school quiz competition concluded on Saturday at Hyderabad. This multi-city quiz competition has been initiated by Oakridge International School in association with Nexus Consulting.

It is a quizzing platform for school students to test their knowledge in current affairs, general knowledge, sports, history and lot more. The competition was organised in various categories including Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior under two levels respectively.

In the second edition, over 1160 students from across India participated in the preliminary rounds held from 28 October to 12 November at 4 different cities in Mohali, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

After some intense competition and tough question rounds, top 23 teams were selected to compete in Grand Finale held in Hyderabad.

The Grand Finale had competition on topics like current affairs, sports, arts, geography, science, history and many more. Dr. Naveen Jayakumar, who has been hosting the Landmark Open Quiz since 1994 and is an author of several quiz books including 350 Years Madras Quiz, 1000 Film Quiz and more was the quizmaster at the OAKiq 2017 Finale. The quiz consisted of four rounds with a rapid-fire round and buzzer round that made it more exciting for both the young minds and the audience.

The quiz master even included the audience to answer some questions, making it more engaging for the crowd of more than 100 people sitting there and cheering for the contestants. All the winners received grand prizes.

Speaking on the occasion Oakridge Bachupally Principal, Hema Sanjay said “The OAKIQ 2017, championship is an educational and intellectually- stimulating quiz competition for the brilliant minds. Through affability, healthy competition and team camaraderie, Oakridgers and contestants from school across India strengthen their conviction to accept new challenges and outreach success in multiple life domains.”

Winners - Hari Shankaran and Mrudula Chinhalli from Sri Kumarans School, Bengaluru
Runner-up - Abhinav Datta and Nikhil Bharadwaj from Vibgyor High Marathahalli, Bengaluru in the first runner ups position

Seniors Category

Winners - Ananya Upadhya and Achyuth Rotti from Sri Kumarans School
Runners up - Aaditya Kannan and Anirudh Mondal from PSBB Learning Leadership Academy, Bengaluru

Sub- Juniors Category

Winners - Aritro Ray and Ayush Ranjan from Chirec International School, Hyderabad
Runners up - Bala Venkataraman and Saathvik Sastri from Vibgyor High Marathahalli, Bengaluru.
