Oxford Grammar School, Himayatnagar, celebrated its 37th annual day at Lalita Kala Toranam, Public Gardens, on Saturday.  Prof. S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, inaugurated  the programme by formally lighting the lamp. Parents in large number attended the function.

Hyderabad: Oxford Grammar School, Himayatnagar, celebrated its 37th annual day at Lalita Kala Toranam, Public Gardens, on Saturday. Prof. S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, inaugurated the programme by formally lighting the lamp. Parents in large number attended the function.

Addressing the students, he said that schools play an important role in shaping the students’ career. “Discipline is developed in schools, therefore, onus is laid on schools”.

He appreciated the skills being developed in the school. The VC said the country has demographic dividend advantage as 64 per cent of the people is aged between 15 and 59 years. He advised parents to keep vigil on the movements of their wards.

Guest of honour Prof. Alekhya Punjala, Registrar, Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University, while congratulating the management, parents, teachers and students on the occasion observed that school days are most memorable in one’s life.

She advised the management to recognise fine arts and make them a part of curriculum. She advised teachers not to push students beyond their capacities. Punjala told the students to be expressive and share their problems with elders.

Well-known lyricist Dr. Suddala Ashok Teja graced the occasion. Students presented cultural programmes, including dances, songs, skits and drama which impressed the gathering. A street play on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was the highlight of the evening. Stalls on arts & crafts, heritage, films, bio-diversity, pie club, board games were put up at the venue.

Vice-chairperson M Prarthana said the school’s vision and her dream was taking it to greater heights. She thanked parents for their co-operation and strong support.
