Ramanujan Math Dialogue conducted
The Ramanujan Math Dialogue, a Socratic dialogue largely over Artificial Intelligence and Dynamic Programming, was conducted at Hitex here on Sunday, with an aim of getting school students to appreciate the creative aspects of mathematics.

A very engaging discussion evaluating the importance of abstraction kick started the event. PSK Varma who is the founder of Techsophy and Autorabit, pointed out that easier things are actually harder to abstract.
An interesting dialogue over Artificial Intelligence emerged in the course of the event where students used simple math to create and realise an AI for making subs with the help of a goal tree.
Rohan, one of the sixth class students claimed that he hasn’t built an AI so far but would like to build one making it his New Year resolution. When asked if he’d like to build an AI that’ll help him unlearn, he mentions that it could turn out to be risky as the AI will have to be given control of his brain.
III-T Hyderabad professor Dr Saswata Shannigrahi said that these students learnt so many things which his students learn usually in the first year of graduation and that this learning is very useful while pursuing research in the future.
Vedant, a seventh class student claimed that abstraction makes life simple citing an example of how complex exponential relations can be expressed in a simple manner using logarithms.
Dr Saswata had asked Vedant to tell him one equation about the roof of HITEX. Vedant connected the problem with logarithms concept which he had just learnt. He said that if the length of the roof was measured in centimeters, it would be a huge number and that the answer would be too long.
