Rajamahendravaram: Mekha Susatya Rekha has bagged the National Best Teacher Award and received it from vice-president of India Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi on Wednesday, on Teachers Day. She is the only teacher from Andhra Pradesh who has got the award. As many as 54 teachers across the country were selected for the award out of 154 teachers who were in the race.

Speaking to The Hans India over phone from New Delhi on Thursday, the jubilant teacher Susatya Rekha has said that a 10-minute presentation of her teaching skills was given before senior professors and IAS officers and she was selected for the award.

She said she is very happy to have got the national award and for presenting a briefing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about her teaching techniques to the students. After a patient hearing, the Prime Minister congratulated and advised her to invent new teaching techniques. He also asked the officials to document the teaching tactics and congratulated for using new methods in teaching.

Rekha said she teaches the subjects mingling it with songs and games along with Maths marathon and Maths Run, which inculcate interest among students on learning. Meanwhile, in the name of Rekha Teacher Badi some mathematics formulae, solutions etc with details are available in YouTube channel.

She belongs to the city and is working in Nivedita Kishore Vihar (NKV) as Mathematics teacher. She also worked as National Green Co-Ordinator from 2003 to 2016. Many of her family members are in the teaching profession.
