Hyderabad: Altaf Khan, pursuing B.Com first year (general) at Anwar-Ul-Uloom Degree College in Mallepally is steadily climbing up the ladder in the tough and challenging body building firmament.Described as one ‘loaded with talent’ by veteran body builders, he has been winning laurels from those observing his rise, who, collectively, opine that ‘the lad can go places’.

Although, he took to the tough sport a couple of years back, he has been proving that the confidence in his abilities is not without reason. He has delivered time and again with the latest coming in the Osmania University Inter-college Overall Best Physique Championship 2018-19, that concluded at Wesley Degree College late Saturday evening.

The 18-year-old has come up with back-to-back championship triumphs with the 65kgs category success. It was providence that fetched him the award after the jury had moments earlier messed up the results and had declared him as a runner-up. Subsequently, the results were put in their perspective giving Altaf his due accolades.

In the second fortnight of August he demonstrated his craving for success when he topped in the 68kgs category of the second Telangana Strength-lifting Championship-2018 that was organised by PRO 6 GYM in their Moula Ali premises.

His first major crowning glory came in the Inter-district Junior Body building Championship for the Junior Mr Telangana-2018 at Jangaon in January. Altaf pipped the contenders with a decisive showing that fetched him the gold. That, in a way, marked his arrival on to the body building firmament.

Quite ironically, Anwar-Ul-Uloom Degree College ranks foremost from Osmania University to regularly produce champion body builders. Altaf Khan, who spends ample time on his daily workouts and diet, is expected to take the legacy forward with his future exploits.

‘I owe my progress to my mentor C Rahul. He has had a phenomenal influence on how my career has shaped. I always get inspired learning about the way he braved the odds to reach the exalted positions he has managed to achieve in Mr World competitions. His regimen is tough but worth it. A true-blue role-model body builder, as a coach his obsession is to keep producing young talent,’ points out Altaf, who now aspires to move ahead and make a name in national and international championships. He is right now focussed on the ensuing All India Body building Championship
