Chandigarh varsity announces scholarships for TS students

Prof Singh was in town to launch a nation-wide campaign ‘Lakshya’ which is aimed to provide free of cost professional career counseling facility for the students. While giving details about the facility Prof Singh said, ‘the career guidance would be available free of cost to the students of Telangana throughout the year at university regional office located in Somajiguda, Hyderabad.’

  Under the facility, any matriculation, 10+2 or graduate student from the Telangana state could walk-in at the university regional office for getting this professional guidance and would have to undergo a psychometric test based on which a comprehensive career advisory report would be given that would help them in taking the most crucial decision of their life which is choosing a career, he added. 

“Universities in India should focus onto making the youth employable which requires real time interface with the industry so as to understand their expectations and hence upgrade the academic syllabus as per the changing scenario” Prof Singh added. 

He further said that the dynamic scenario prevailing in corporate world has created a demand for the academic institutions to offer new generation programmes that would enable today’s youth to expand their career horizon by enhancing their employability prospects.

Prof Singh revealed that more than 250 students from Telangana are currently studying in different professional programmes at Chandigarh University which acknowledges the fact that the city beautiful- Chandigarh is fast emerging as a preferred destination for higher education among the students from the state. While disclosing the achievements of students of Telangana during the year 2018 Prof Singh said, “Out of the total 50 students of 2018 batch, 43 students managed to get campus placements in Top-notch companies.

 Computer science student Monika form Hyderabad has been placed in cognizant and Cybage software while another MBA student Aakriti from Peddapalli has been selected in Reliance industries, MRF Tyres and Naukri.com during campus placements.” While discussing the achievements of students of Telangana in the field of research Prof Singh said, “Amit Verraupu from Hyderabad has been the part of a research group which has been successful in developing chemical compounds that can be used in drugs meant for asthmatic and diabetic patients”.

While announcing the scholarships for the students of Telangana Prof Singh said, “Chandigarh University is offering 800 scholarships in various programmes through its all India entrance examination CUSAT-2019 which is slated to be held in the month of April and May at various test centers across India. Under the CUSAT Scholarship policy students would be offered scholarship upto 100% in more than 109 different professional programmes offered by university for the academic session 2019-20.

 The students can register online at www.fasttrack.cuchd.in and can avail the benefits of the scholarship.” In yet another scholarship announced Monday during the press conference Prof Singh said, “10% academic scholarship would be given to the wards of school teachers and university/college professors of Telangana state as a mark of respect for their contribution towards building strong future for the nation.”
