Vijayawada: BC leaders under the leadership of B Durga Naresh greeted MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao on the occasion of birth anniversary social reformer Savitribai Pule on Thursday.
The leaders greeted the MLA as he was instrumental for implementing various welfare schemes for BCs whose uplift Savitribai struggled.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA reminded the gathering that Savitribai was the first woman teacher in the country who strived to uplift the downtrodden.
The MLA said that Savitribai Pule fought for the development of backward class community till her last breath.
He expressed his happiness for honoring him on the occasion of Savitri Pule birth anniversary, for extending gratitude for various development schemes introduced by the state government for the development of the BCs.
