VUDA Children Arena by Ugadi
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao made whirlwind tour of the city on Thursday inspecting works at VUDA Children Arena, Central Park, inaugurating sewage treatment plant at Convent Junction and tasting mid-day meal at GVMC Primary School in Maddilapalem on Thursday.

The Minister asked the VUDA vice-chairman T Baburao Naidu to complete VUDA Children Arena much before Ugadi. He said as a part of the State festival, it was planned to organise the festival at Children Arena, where prominent people would be felicitated. Similarly, he also asked the VUDA vice-chairman to complete the renovation work at Gurajada Kalakshetram. He also directed the officials to speed up works at Central Park located in the heart of the city.
The Minister later told reporters that a Ravindra Bharathi type of Auditorium will be built at MVP Colony for which tenders have been finalised. “Work will start immediately, so, that it could be used for cultural events of global level,” he added.
Later, inspecting all the pending works of VUDA, the Minister said the Chief Minister was determined to make Vizag cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, he inaugurated sewage treatment plant built at a cost of Rs 30 crore and appreciated the commissioner and staff of GVMC for keeping the city clean for the Partnership Summit and recently conducted International Fleet Review. The city made a very good comeback after Hudhud cyclone ravaged the city.
He said the State government had sanctioned Rs 244 crore for sewage treatment plant and appealed to the people to cooperate with GVMC in maintaining cleanliness of the city. Later, he surprised the officials by visiting GVMC Primary School in Maddilapalem. Interacting with the students, the Minister also tasted the mid-day meals and expressed his unhappiness over the quality.
He told the school staff that there were no nutrients in the meals, which were essential for mental and physical growth of the children.
