6th Hockey India Sr Men Inter-Dept National C’ship: Punjab & Sind Bank thrash Defence Accounts 13-1
Hyderabad: Punjab & Sind Bank (PSB) produced a commanding performance, thrashing Defence Accounts Sports Control Board 13-1 on Day 3 of the 6th Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2026 at Gachibowli Hockey Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Jaskaran Singh was the star performer for PSB, scoring five goals, while Araijeet Singh Hundal struck four. Jaskaran opened the scoring in the fourth minute before PSB added three more goals in the second quarter to lead 4-0 at half-time. Defence Accounts’ Happy scored in the 40th minute, but PSB responded with five goals in the final quarter to complete a comprehensive win. PSB are coached by Olympian Alloysius Edwards.
Punjab National Bank also registered an impressive 6-1 victory over ITBP Central Hockey Team, with Gursimran Singh scoring a hat-trick. Prikshit Panchal, Toshant and Naveen Antil were the other scorers, while Roshan netted ITBP’s lone goal.
In Pool C, Central Board of Direct Taxes defeated Union Bank of India 3-1, with skipper Karthi S scoring all three goals. Union Bank had taken an early lead through Babu Venkati Metkar. Central Industrial Security Force completed the day’s other big win, defeating Canara Bank 8-1. Aryan Uthappa gave Canara Bank an early lead, but CISF responded strongly through Govind Singh Bisht and others to seal victory in Pool D.
