Indian captain Virat Kohli finally broke into the top 10, according to the latest T20I rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday.
Indian captain Virat Kohli finally broke into the top 10, according to the latest T20I rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday.
Kohli, who scored 183 runs in three matches at an average of 183, was named the Player of the Series after India won the decider against the West Indies in Mumbai on Wednesday. The Indian skipper, who registered his highest T20I score of 94 not out during the series, has jumped up five places to No. 10.
After playing a Man of the Match knock in the third T20I, KL Rahul has moved three places to No.6, while Rohit Sharma, who flopped in the first two matches before scoring a quick-fire 71 in Mumbai, slipped one place to No.9.

This year has turned out to be an exceptional one for Kohli, who already is the top-ranked cricketer in the ODIs and Tests. Kohli, who is the only batsman to average 50-plus across formats at present, has so far scored 2,366 runs this year and is likely to end 2019 as the leading run-scorer in international cricket for the fourth straight year. The next best is his deputy in the blue jersey, Rohit, who has accumulated 2,184 runs having played one match more than Kohli.
There are three more ODIs to be played by the Indian team this year and all against the West Indies. The Indian skipper, who has broken several records to score 11,520 runs at 60.30 in 239 ODIs, will certainly do everything to pile up as many runs as possible in those matches. While Rohit is miles away from Kohli's numbers in the 50-over format, he is on par with his captain in the shortest format.
Having scored 71 and 70 against the West Indies on Tuesday, Rohit and Kohli are at the joint top spot on the all-time T20I runs chart. The two batsmen now have 2633 runs each, though Kohli (75) has reached there in fewer innings than Rohit (104).
